THE EVOLUTION OF ORIND
It's been a long journey from the group's inception in India in 1945 as Orissa Industries Limited, to its
present fast growing International status. But along the way Orind has never lost sight of its core
strengths and values.
Our 7 decades of experience in refractory design, development, production and application has been
enhanced over the years by extensive technical collaborations with leading refractory producers such as
Harbison Walker (USA), Veitscher Magnesitwerke (Austria) and Shinagawa (Japan). We continue this
tradition by receiving regular inputs from some of the most renowned companies and consultants in the
refractory community today.
A big step forward in Orind's evolution was its pioneering entry into China, the world's foremost source of
high quality magnesia and other raw materials for refractories manufacture. By establishing ourselves as
the first ever wholly owned foreign refractory enterprise in China as early as 1994, we have secured
access to the finest raw materials available through cost effective and trustworthy relationships with our
suppliers. This has put Orind in a dominant position in Asia-Pacific and today is a cornerstone of the
company's global supremacy.
